PANKOBİRLİK/Erkoyuncu: Our Seed Development Efforts Will Gain Momentum

Foreks - The 52nd Ordinary Financial General Assembly of PANKOBİRLİK was held with the participation of the board members of the 31 Beet Farmers' Cooperatives and representatives of Turkish Sugar. Decisions taken at the PANKOBİRLİK Financial General Assembly were unanimously accepted by all participants.

The 52nd Ordinary Financial General Assembly of S.S. Pancar Ekicileri Kooperatifleri Birliği, which is the umbrella organization of Beet Farmers' Cooperatives in Turkey, took place at the union's headquarters in Ankara. The General Assembly was attended by representatives from the ministry, board members of the 31 Beet Farmers' Cooperatives, and representatives and members of Turkish Sugar. After the reading of the agenda items, a committee was formed and the Chairmanship of the committee was elected. Following the establishment of the committee, PANKOBİRLİK General Manager Tolga Demirhan took to the podium to inform participants about the activities and workings of the union.

"I HAVE NOT GIVEN ANY COOPERATIVE PREFERENCE" PANKOBİRLİK General President and Chairman of the Board of the Konya Beet Farmers' Cooperative Ramazan Erkoyuncu began his speech by wishing success for the 52nd Financial General Assembly. President Erkoyuncu stated, “We come together every year for the Financial General Assembly. I have been with you for 3 years. I was elected to the board of directors thanks to your support and became the chairman of the board. In these 3 years, we have brought our union to a certain level. PANKOBİRLİK is a guarantee, assurance, and support for all cooperatives. It is our priority to provide the necessary support to cooperatives in need. In this context, I value our unity and solidarity. Therefore, our institution must be strong and remain strong at all times. In my 3 years in office, I have made no distinctions; I have worked with this goal. I have not given preference to my own cooperative or any different cooperative. I have been open to ideas, suggestions, and criticism. I ask you all to do whatever it takes to strive for the best together. If anyone has a different idea that involves criticism or suggestion, please share everything with us in a courteous manner. There is harmony and peace within our union. Let’s continue this peace and do our best for the growth of our union,” he said.

“OUR SEED DEVELOPMENT WORK WILL GAIN MOMENTUM” President Erkoyuncu also emphasized the importance of seed development efforts and announced that they will establish a unit in this regard. He stated, "We are collaborating with Selçuk University for seed development. I have also proposed to create a large test field. InshaAllah, next year we will establish large test fields for both sunflower and beet. We will develop the seeds that our farmers prefer and plant them in these test fields. Our aim in doing this is to ensure that our farmers are not affected by any adverse events. We will have such an initiative and further develop our country's agriculture. There are few unions around the world that develop seeds. We are one of these unions. In this context, we will work hard and achieve beautiful successes,” he concluded.
