Trump Seeks Guarantees on Tariff Policies from Treasury Secretary Candidates
In the U.S., advisors to elected President Donald Trump told the Financial Times that they are seeking assurances from top Treasury Secretary candidates that they will support Trump’s tariff policies. It has been reported that Scott Bessent, founder of Key Square Group, and Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, are among the leading candidates to control Trump’s Treasury Department. Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who was close to Trump during the presidential campaign and will also join the administration to co-chair the new Department of State Efficiency (DOGE), commented, "Bessent is always an option, while @howardlutnick will really make a difference."
