Turkcell, ZTE, and NETAŞ Complete Field Test of 800GE SRv6 and EVPN
Foreks - Turkcell (IS:TCELL), ZTE, and Netaş (IS:NETAS) have successfully conducted the world's first end-to-end 800GE SRv6 and EVPN ultra-high-speed field test in the network in Bursa. This successful test validates the high performance offered by advanced technologies while opening the doors to a new era in telecommunications infrastructure.
ZTE’s latest generation core router model M6000-16SE provides a robust infrastructure with 256 800GE ports. With flexible configuration options, this system facilitates network development processes, accommodates large-scale data traffic, and optimizes resource management in network slicing and edge computing areas.
As a global leader in communication technologies, ZTE, along with Turkey's pioneering telecommunications company Netaş and Turkcell, successfully executed the world's first end-to-end 800GE SRv6 and EVPN field test. This test not only confirms the high performance of next-generation technologies but also contributes to the development of global network infrastructure.
Globally leading multinational communication operator Turkcell has focused on enhancing user experience with innovative technologies over the past 30 years and supporting the deep integration of the digital economy with social development. To achieve this goal, Turkcell conducted a series of tests at various points within the Bursa network in collaboration with ZTE and Netaş. By installing advanced 800GE port routing unit cards and the M6000-16SE, Turkcell, ZTE, and Netaş successfully validated the end-to-end 800GE ultra-large capacity data capability, ensuring seamless integration of SRv6 and EVPN protocols. This collaboration further highlights the commitment of all parties to innovations in network technology and the goal of enhancing user experience.
ZTE's latest generation core router model M6000-16SE stands out with its 256 800GE ports and flexible port speed configuration options. This router can be easily upgraded from 400GE to 800GE through the replacement of optical modules and the updating of configuration commands, significantly simplifying network evolution. This robust structure meets Turkcell's needs in areas such as artificial intelligence, 5G, and cloud computing. Furthermore, this field test responds to Turkcell's demands for network slicing and edge computing by optimizing resource planning through the flexibility and efficiency provided by SRv6 and EVPN protocols.
In the future, ZTE and Netaş will strengthen their collaboration with Turkcell to continue working on the broader commercialization of SRv6, EVPN, and 800GE technologies. With these innovative steps, progress in network technologies aims to provide users with a superior network experience.
Turkcell's Assistant General Manager responsible for Network Technologies, Prof. Dr. Vehbi Çağrı Güngör, stated: “We are determined to constantly explore the boundaries of advanced IP technologies to maintain Turkcell's leading position in the industry. The world's first end-to-end 800GE field test conducted with SRv6 and EVPN is a testament to this spirit of exploration. For the past 30 years, Turkcell has been using advanced technologies to ease the lives of users. In the future, we will continue to lead the development of the communication sector and promote the commercialization of advanced technologies.”
Netaş's Telecommunications Business Unit General Manager Bülent Elönü expressed: “We are continuing our efforts to implement new technologies in our country in collaboration with Turkcell. We have successfully completed the world's first end-to-end 800G SRv6 and EVPN field test conducted between different locations at the IP layer. With this effort, we have had the opportunity to test technologies that will meet the needs for high capacity and service diversity required in the near future. In the coming days, we will continue to implement the latest technologies with high energy efficiency in Turkey.”
