Minister Bolat: "We Will Strengthen Trade Among Islamic Countries"
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that arrangements will be implemented to increase trade volume among Islamic countries. Minister Bolat stated that they aim to utilize the potential of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) more effectively.
In a statement made via his X account, Bolat expressed that they came together during the OIC Economic and Commercial Cooperation Committee's 40th Session, held at the ISEDAK Working Breakfast. He mentioned that the economic and commercial relations among OIC member countries were discussed in detail during the meeting.
The goal is to increase trade among Islamic countries to over 25%. During the meeting, various strategies were explored to raise the share of intra-OIC trade to over 25%. Minister Bolat emphasized that strengthening the economic and commercial structure is among the top priorities.
Bolat noted that the consensus reached during the meetings is an important step to enhance the potential and trade volume of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He indicated that new arrangements will be made to strengthen preferential trade among member countries.
Important steps will be taken in 2023. Ömer Bolat added that concrete steps would be taken within 2023 to enhance cooperation with OIC member countries, announcing that various collaborations and agreements are in the pipeline to increase trade volume.
He stated that the collaborations planned for this year will make trade among Islamic countries more inclusive, and these steps will contribute to strengthening economic ties among members.
