Programs Implemented in China Created 2.45 Million Jobs in Just 9 Months
The country's highest economic planning authority, the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that China is promoting the implementation of job assistance programs by local governments in key projects, as well as agricultural and rural infrastructure projects, to increase employment.
In the first three quarters of 2024, these programs created a total of 2.45 million jobs for low-income workers, indicating a 30.2% increase compared to the previous year, and distributed wages amounting to 31 billion yuan (approximately 4.35 billion USD), representing a 22% increase from the prior year.
According to the National Development and Reform Commission, these job assistance programs are aimed at individuals in need of employment, particularly vulnerable individuals who are prone to falling back into poverty, such as rural residents who have escaped poverty and migrant workers returning to their hometowns. The Commission stated that these programs will continue to play an essential role in creating jobs and increasing the incomes of low-income workers.
