A Tiered Pricing Structure for Natural Gas is Coming

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that the initiative to charge "less from low consumers and the actual cost from high consumers" in electricity will also be implemented for natural gas. According to reports, Bayraktar stated, "We want to switch to tiered pricing for natural gas, similar to electricity, in February 2025. There will be a study based on provinces." He noted that the natural gas agreement with Russia will expire in 2025, adding, "As Turkey, we are seeking a special price for ourselves. Also, there is a significant contract expiring at the end of 2025, and we are discussing the renewal conditions. There is a need to develop a package deal here."
