Turkcell Wins Two Awards at the IPRA Golden Awards
Turkcell (IS:TCELL) has been awarded two prizes at the IPRA Golden Awards, one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in public relations globally. The company was recognized for its Circular Waste Launch Children’s Book and Tent City Earthquake Region Children’s Activity project. Mustafa Alcan, Turkcell’s Director of Corporate Communication, Media, and Brand Management, stated, “On our 30th anniversary, these awards in two areas we greatly value, environmental and social sustainability, reflect the steps we are taking in the realm of social benefit. We are very pleased to receive an award at such a prestigious organization. We will continue to work for our country and our people.”
Turkcell received recognition in the field of public relations at the IPRA Golden Awards for its two separate projects aimed at children focusing on social sustainability and the environment. The Tent City Earthquake Region Children’s Activity project won in the Event Management category, while the Circular Waste Launch Children’s Book collaboration project was awarded in the Environmental category.
Mustafa Alcan expressed, “It is a great joy to receive an award again this year at such prestigious organizations like the IPRA Golden World Awards, which honors successful public relations work globally. On our 30th anniversary, the awards we have won for projects focused on children in areas of environmental and social sustainability reflect our steps in creating social benefits. I would like to thank all my colleagues and stakeholders involved in these meaningful projects for their valuable contributions. As Turkey’s Turkcell, we will continue to work to do our best for our country and our people.”
Every child became their home’s “waste hero.” The Circular Waste Launch Children’s Book project aims to raise awareness of environmental issues among future generations. In this context, the children’s book titled “Karınca Bacak ile Dev Yaprak” was digitized and narrated by Turkcell. Children who read the book and brought their electronic waste to an organization authorized by TÜBİSAD or to technology waste bins in Turkcell stores were awarded the ‘Circular Waste Electronic Certificate.’ Thus, each child became their home’s ‘waste hero.’
Turkcell implemented the “Gönül Bağı Projects” to help heal the wounds of citizens affected by the earthquake, organizing the Tent City Earthquake Region Children’s Activity across 20 different locations in Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, and Adıyaman. The initiative reached 50,000 children and 75,000 parents and visitors. While the families' needs, such as hygiene materials, were addressed, children enjoyed various activities and workshops, finding joy and encouragement.
