The Environmental Impact Assessment Process Begins for the Challenging Geothermal Energy Project in Ağrı Diyadin JES and Resource Exploration
The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process has begun for the Ağrı Diyadin Geothermal Power Plant and Resource Exploration project planned by Zorlu Geothermal Energy. An announcement on the website of the General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permit and Inspection provided the following information:
"In the province of Ağrı, in the districts of Diyadin, Mollakara, Mutlu, and Gedik Villages, as well as the locations of Köy Altı, Takça, Jeri, and Çakmak Stone, on parcels numbered 2-3 of plot 103, parcels 5-6-7-8-10-11-12 of plot 104, parcels 1-2 of plot 106, and parcel 49 of plot 108, the project planned by Zorlu Geothermal Energy Production Inc. for the Ağrı Diyadin Geothermal Power Plant (3x(50 MWm/50 MWe)) and Resource Exploration has been examined in accordance with Article 8 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation. It has been determined that the application document is in compliance with the EIA General Format, and the EIA process for the project has been initiated. Until the completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment process, all information related to the process, as well as comments, questions, and suggestions regarding the project, can be submitted to the Ağrı Governorship (Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change) or the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change."
