Kyrgyzstan Central Bank Holds Interest Rates Steady

Forex - The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR) did not change the policy interest rate in this meeting, just as it did in the previous two meetings. According to the statement from the NBKR, the benchmark interest rate remained at 9.00%. The bank had lowered the interest rate by 200 basis points in its meetings in April and May this year. The NBKR announced that it will continue to implement a monetary policy based on comprehensive and well-developed methods, taking into account the current external and internal economic conditions and the risks that still exist in the external environment. The statement noted, "In any risk situation, the Central Bank does not rule out the possibility of making further adjustments to the ongoing monetary policy." In Kyrgyzstan, inflation was last reported at 4.9% in September.
