Exciting Changes Ahead for Car Listings: Fines Up to 100,000 TL on the Horizon!
Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan announced that a new regulation is being prepared for automobile listings on social media platforms. Gürcan stated that this regulation would impose various obligations on some major social media companies.
If these platforms fail to comply with the regulations concerning vehicle listings, they will face fines ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 TL per violation. The primary aim of the new regulation is to prevent misinformation and ensure that consumers have access to more accurate information. Gürcan mentioned that current market deficiencies and violations would be identified, followed by regulations implemented accordingly.
Penalties and industry regulations Speaking to Habertürk, Gürcan noted that, besides penalties, there would be various regulations concerning motor vehicle trade for distributors. He emphasized efforts to prevent authorized dealers from being forced to purchase vehicles exceeding their sales averages for a given period.
He further mentioned that sanctions would be imposed if authorized dealers altered vehicle prices or imposed certain conditions post-sale. Moreover, time limits would be set for vehicle delivery.
Changes in authorization certificate application requirements Gürcan also announced some alleviating regulations in response to industry demands. The previously debated requirement for obtaining a business license was removed from the authorization certificate application process under the new regulation.
Furthermore, the high school graduation requirement for authorization certificate applications was abolished until March 1, 2025. These new adjustments aim to provide flexibility to the sector and enable broader participation in automotive trade activities.
