Marketplace in Light Trade Surrenders to Imports
In October, the contraction in Turkey's automotive industry accelerated, with the share of imports in light commercial vehicle sales exceeding 80%, reaching a historical record. Domestic light commercial vehicle sales decreased by 43%, while imported light commercial vehicle sales increased by 54%.
According to a report, the Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) announced production, export, and market data for the month of October. While the overall automotive production saw a declining trend, a new record for light commercial vehicle imports was set. Due to additional taxes on Chinese vehicles, car imports slowed down, whereas the domestic share in light commercial vehicles fell below 20% for the first time.
