Treasury and Finance Ministry Denies Reports Regarding Minister Mehmet Şimşek

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance denied claims in the press regarding Minister Mehmet Şimşek. In a statement, the Ministry stated that the allegation reported in Sözcü newspaper, asserting that "Minister Mehmet Şimşek will stay in a villa costing $5,000 per night after publishing a savings circular," is completely baseless and a perception operation.

The statement continued: "It has been observed that the claim made by CHP Karabük Deputy Cevdet Akay was used without verification of its accuracy. Therefore, the allegation that our Minister will attend the event on the last day is entirely unfounded, and such participation is absolutely not the case.

Furthermore, our Minister never stays overnight at institutional workshops as a principle. In this context, contrary to what was stated in the news, our Minister will be in Brazil for the G-20 meetings during those dates. We condemn this type of journalism that aims to create a perception, carried out without confirming the truth."
