Nissan E-Power Production Surpasses 1.5 Million Units
Foreks - Nissan announced that the global production of vehicles equipped with its "e-POWER" technology, introduced to the automotive world in 2016, has exceeded 1.5 million units as of the end of October.
The statement said: "The e-POWER technology, which is unique to Nissan, utilizes a gasoline engine that acts as a generator to charge the battery and provides power to the wheels by running the electric motor, delivering instant torque while offering lower exhaust emissions and fuel costs compared to a conventional internal combustion engine. In addition to the gasoline engine serving as a generator, e-POWER employs regenerative braking to help keep the battery charged.
Nissan first launched e-POWER in Japan in 2016 with the Note e-POWER. The availability of this innovative powertrain has been expanded to include the Kicks, X-Trail, and Serena models. In the fiscal year 2023, 42.6% of Nissan cars sold in Japan were equipped with e-POWER.
By 2021, e-POWER began to be offered in China with the Sylphy e-POWER sedan and is now also available in the X-Trail SUV. In Europe, the e-POWER versions of the X-Trail and Qashqai SUVs were released in 2022, and by January 2024, over 100,000 units had been sold across Europe. At the same time as Europe, Nissan vehicles with e-POWER technology also launched in Turkey, surpassing a total of 12,000 units. Nissan plans to launch e-POWER in the United States and Canada by the end of the fiscal year 2026.
Nissan will continue to enhance the appeal and competitiveness of e-POWER to meet the diverse needs of customers around the world.
