TUPRS Shares Temporarily Halted Following Explosion at Tüpraş
According to a notification from Borsa İstanbul, the trading of TUPRS shares has been temporarily suspended. Following an explosion that occurred during a drill at the Tüpraş İzmit facilities, Tüpraş shares were temporarily halted. Borsa İstanbul made the following statement regarding the matter: "The trading of TUPRS.E, related warrants, and futures and options contracts based on TUPRS shares has been temporarily suspended until the special situation statement requested from the company is published in KAP."
What happened? An explosion occurred at Tüpraş’s İzmit facilities today. The rising smoke raised concerns, but Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın stated in an interview with NTV that there is no alarming situation. Büyükakın explained that the explosion happened during a planned drill that was communicated to them and that the situation has been brought under control by Tüpraş itself. He mentioned that Tüpraş would seek assistance from the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department in case of a larger incident, but no such request has been made. He also reported that there were no injured individuals or worse outcomes communicated to them.
As a result, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın conveyed that there was a planned drill at Tüpraş, and the incident was an unfortunate occurrence during that drill, which is currently under control. Büyükakın stated, "There is currently no problem, the fire is under control, and there is no situation for our citizens to be concerned about."
Decline in TUPRS shares
While waiting for an official statement from Tüpraş officials, TUPRS shares fell by 3% to 138.5 TL following the explosion incident. As of now, the stock is trading at 139.9 TL, reflecting a daily decline of 1.89%.
