Number of Wage-Earners in Turkey Hits Record High Once Again
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has published statistics on paid employees for September 2024. The statistics highlight annual and monthly changes in the industry, construction, and trade-service sectors.
The number of paid employees increased by 2.7% year-on-yearAccording to the data disclosed by TÜİK, the number of paid employees in September 2024 showed a 2.7% increase compared to the same month of the previous year. The number of paid employees, which was 15,550,366 in September 2023, rose to 15,973,744 in the same month of 2024. While this increase indicates a significant rise in the total number of employees, different trends were observed across sectors.
When examining the industrial, construction, and trade-service sectors, a 0.7% decrease was seen in the industrial sector on an annual basis. In contrast, a significant increase of 6.3% was observed in the construction sector, while the trade-service sector recorded a growth of 4.0%.The number of paid employees increased by 0.2% month-on-monthIn September 2024, the total number of paid employees increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month. This growth indicates a positive momentum in monthly data.
When looking at sectors on a monthly basis, a decrease of 0.2% in the industrial sector was notable. However, the number of paid employees in the construction sector saw an increase of 0.3%. In the trade-service sector, a rise of 0.4% was observed. These figures reveal monthly performance differences among sectors.
